Workstream 4 - Standardized data flows (APIs)

The workstream on Standardized data flows (APIs) was established in May 2023 with the purpose to create a best practice way to transfer data in machine-readable format from the turbine manufacturers to their customers. This workstream is aiming at building a customer journey focusing on data and information exchange between turbine manufacturers and developers or utilities.

The amount and complexity of the data exchanged between turbine manufacturers and their customers has become more complex over the past years, and it has become more prominent in the entire lifecycle, not only during the operations phase but even from very early interactions. This calls for rethinking our approach to transferring data from one organization to another. In today’s digital era, Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) are the standard way to flow information, and this workstream investigates what a future where data can flow seamlessly could look like.

The guideline has been written by subject matter experts from the following companies:

  • Equinor
  • Nordex
  • RWE
  • Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy
  • Vattenfall
  • Vestas Wind Systems
  • Ørsted

Status

The Wind Industry Guideline for Standardized data flows (APIs) will be ready for purchase in 2024. The first outcome of the workstream will be to focus on developing a cookbook for a data model and API targeted at the performance curves specified in the Product Specification documents for type turbines.
