Renewable energy outpaces fossil fuels in the UK
In January 2021, the government of the United Kingdom announced that renewable energy had outpaced its fossil fuel generation in 2020 for the first year ever, and that renewables could remain the largest source of electricity in the future.
Due to being the most cost-effective way of power generation, wind energy is leading the renewable energy market in the country. It is therefore no surprise that offshore and onshore wind provided more than half of the country’s renewable electricity last year.
As of 2020, the United Kingdom is one of the leading countries in the offshore wind market, even despite the COVID-19 pandemic which severely affected the country with its long-lasting lockdowns.
With the country’s ambitious offshore wind energy targets for 2030, which include building the world’s largest offshore wind farm, there are huge market opportunities in the United Kingdom for wind energy companies in the near future.
The different policies adopted by the United Kingdom, especially after BREXIT, are expected to aid the renewable energy market's growth. By 2026, the market in the United Kingdom is expected to reach around 86.21 GW, up from 47.16 GW in 2019.
Companies such as Cooper Turner Beck have already made a business strategy which is in line with the growth of wind energy in the United Kingdom. Their strategy entails increasing quality standard practices, increasing the number of employees trained in APQP4Wind, creating new innovations and products, and much more.
