Meet our Member: Windey - Engineering a sustainable future

Founded in 1972, Windey has grown into a leading renewable energy enterprise with more than 5,500 employees, including 800 R&D engineers. The company’s business spans the full value chain: Wind turbine R&D and manufacturing, renewable energy investment and development, energy storage, EPC services, intelligent operation and maintenance, and emerging Power-to-X technologies.
In 2024, Windey installed a record 12.5 GW of new capacity, as highlighted by BloombergNEF, securing its position as the world’s third-largest turbine supplier. With R&D centers and offices in Brazil and the UK, and wind power projects across Europe, MENA, South America, and Asia, Windey has established a truly global presence.
What sets Windey apart is its ability to go beyond traditional power generation. By integrating solutions across generation, grid, storage, and green fuels, the company is reshaping the cost structure of renewable energy while contributing to the global energy transition.
Enhancing product development through APQP4Wind
Building on its existing APQP practices, Windey further integrated and systematized them in 2024 through the APQP4Wind framework, aligning with international quality standards and strengthening global project execution.
The adoption of APQP4Wind has enabled the company to establish clear quality gates, standardize cross-functional processes, and strengthen supplier collaboration. This structured approach supports the company’s global ambitions and ensures that its products are reliable, cost-efficient, and meet the highest quality standards. Global Quality Director at Windey, Chen Honggang, further explains:
“Scaling the wind industry is not only about building faster - it is about building smarter. Frameworks like APQP4Wind allow us to align with global best practices, strengthen supplier collaboration, and deliver higher quality products that meet the expectations of international partners.
APQP4Wind: A cornerstone of global growth

To reinforce its ‘quality first’ approach, Windey joined the APQP4Wind Community as a company member. The membership provides access to practical tools, shared knowledge, and international best practices, while connecting Windey to a global network of OEMs, suppliers, and industry partners.
By actively participating in the community, Windey not only learns from others but also shares insights from projects across Asia, the Middle East, and Central Asia. This exchange strengthens Windey’s ability to deliver consistent, high-quality solutions in new markets, making APQP4Wind a cornerstone of the company’s global growth.
