As the second largest wind turbine blade manufacturer in China and the third largest in the world, more than 14,700 sets of TMT's blades are used on on- and offshore wind turbines around the globe. Most of the company’s blades are found on wind turbines in China, while others can be found in locations such as Spain, France, Russia, Mexico, India and many more.

TMT specializes in engineering research and product application of polymer material, anti-vibration and noise-reduction components and lightweight technology. Their products have been widely applied across different industries, including railway, automotive, and renewable energy. It is especially their superior polymer material, lightweight design, and advanced technology that TMT’s blades are recognized for.

Implementing APQP4Wind helps satisfy customers

After TMT started to implement APQP4Wind, their customers have become more actively involved in each project, and the expectations of both parties are much clearer. The cooperation with customers has improved significantly, and TMT now has more knowledge on how to satisfy their customers than before.

By applying APQP4Wind, TMT has created a preventive quality system that focuses on the customer and helps the company identify and prevent risks to provide their customers with high-quality products in time and at the lowest cost, says Deputy General Manager of TMT and General Manager of TMT’s Wind Power Products Business Unit, Dr. Hou Binbin:

TMT’s systems have been optimized, projects are continuously becoming more efficient, and less mistakes are being made due to the company’s quality assurance and control having become more systematic and clearer.

APQP4Wind frontrunner in China

As a blade manufacturer driven by quality, TMT was the first wind turbine blade manufacturer from China to apply the APQP4Wind methodology. Since then, APQP4Wind has become such an integral part of TMT’s quality management system, that they implement the methodology in every important project.

More than 36 of the company’s employees have undergone APQP4Wind Specialist and Management Awareness Training, and project members have a better understanding of what the team is supposed to accomplish at different stages of the project. Everyone works more closely together, efficiency is improved, and the probability of making mistakes is reduced, thus lowering the overall cost.

Now, TMT is a fully committed Company Member who asks their suppliers to participate in APQP4Wind training and does whatever they can to further promote APQP4Wind in the supply chain, says Deputy Quality Director of TMT’s Wind Power Products Business Unit, Peng Xi:
