Meet our Member: ProCon Wind Energy – Electrifying Offshore Wind

ProCon Wind Energy delivers electrical, mechanical, and technical solutions for offshore wind foundations and substations, covering the entire project lifecycle from engineering and pre-assembly to installation, commissioning, and service. The company first encountered APQP4Wind in 2024 through an OEM customer requirement and has been a member of the APQP4Wind Community ever since. Today, ProCon Wind Energy’s quality team is APQP4Wind trained, and the framework sits alongside the company’s integrated management system certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
ProCon Wind Energy combines technical expertise, precise planning, and strong offshore coordination to deliver complex operations in challenging environments.

A single point of responsibility for the electrical and service scope

Headquartered in Aalborg, Denmark, ProCon Wind Energy was established in 2018 and has since grown to more than 200 employees across Denmark, Norway, and Taiwan. The company operates through three business areas: Engineering, Procurement, Installation, Construction, and Service.

What distinguishes ProCon Wind Energy is its approach to scope consolidation. Through its EPICS turnkey offering, the company delivers design, engineering, installation, high-voltage work, mechanical and electrical completion, and commissioning under a single contract. This reduces the number of interfaces a developer would otherwise need to manage across multiple suppliers and places responsibility for the entire electrical scope with one partner. “Every interface in a project is a place where a requirement can get lost. Our model exists to reduce the number of those handovers, and quality planning is how we control the ones that remain”, says Arjun Ajith, QHSE Manager at ProCon Wind Energy.

A common quality language, a lower-risk project

ProCon Wind Energy's journey with APQP4Wind began in 2024 when an OEM customer specified the framework for a particular program. To support the project, ProCon Wind Energy's quality team completed APQP4Wind training, gaining practical knowledge of the methodology, its toolbox, and the expectations OEMs place on quality planning.

That competence builds on an already established foundation. ProCon Wind Energy's integrated management system is certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 and is audited annually across top management, project delivery, and support functions.

“
ISO certification tells us our processes are in control. APQP4Wind tells us they speak the same language as our customers and suppliers. For a company that works at the interface between fabrication yards, OEMs and developers, that second part is what removes risk from a project.
Arjun Ajith, QHSE Manager, ProCon Wind Energy
Quality is built into every stage of a project. Through structured planning, technical expertise, and close collaboration, ProCon Wind Energy helps ensure consistent execution and reliable outcomes.

Joining the community to stay ahead of industry expectations

ProCon Wind Energy's membership in the APQP4Wind Community originated in 2024, following the customer requirement that first introduced the framework to the organization. However, the decision to become a member went beyond the needs of a single contract. Rather than responding to APQP4Wind requirements on a project-by-project basis as individual OEMs requested them, ProCon Wind Energy chose to build the capability proactively, recognizing the direction in which quality expectations across the wind supply chain are evolving.

“
An OEM asked us to work based on APQP4Wind, and we recognized it as the direction the whole industry is moving. We joined the community to build that capability on our own terms, rather than reacting to it contract by contract.
Per Magnus Muren, COO, ProCon Wind Energy

Membership provides ProCon Wind Energy with access to the APQP4Wind Manual, Toolbox, and Assessment Tool, offering a consistent benchmark that can be applied across a supply base spanning multiple countries and jurisdictions. It also enables valuable knowledge sharing with OEMs and suppliers that are further along in their APQP4Wind implementation journey.

As its use of the framework continues to mature, ProCon Wind Energy hopes to contribute its own experience from installation and commissioning back to the community. These project phases are where design and fabrication assumptions are ultimately tested in practice, and where the effectiveness of quality planning becomes visible.
