Sustainability is deeply embedded in ENERCON’s corporate identity. From the beginning, the company has engaged in areas beyond wind energy, contributing to the broader energy transition. Exemplified by its work in developing hydropower plants, stand-alone systems, energy storage, and rapid charging solutions for e-mobility applications. This has provided ENERCON with valuable insights that flow into its core product.

Since 1984, ENERCON has driven sustainable energy generation with its mission; energy for the world.  The company is among the world's leading wind turbine manufacturers with over 61 GW of installed capacity, cutting-edge wind turbine technology, and high-quality standards. Employing approximately 13,000 people across administrative, sales, production, and service locations worldwide, with headquarters in Aurich, Germany.

Providing advanced wind solutions and comprehensive support

ENERCON’s product portfolio includes wind energy converters with nominal power outputs ranging from 2,000 to 5,560 kilowatts. This allows ENERCON to readily provide models for a wide variety of wind sites.

In 2024, the company announced its latest wind turbine model, the E-175 EP5, featuring a nominal power exceeding 6 MW and a 175-meter rotor diameter. Designed with an E-nacelle that integrates electrical systems, this model represents a significant technological advancement. And by 2026, ENERCON plans to release an enhanced 7 MW version, incorporating advanced two-part generator technology.

In addition, project planners and operators can draw on a wealth of consultation and planning knowledge at ENERCON. To support its customers at all steps on their path to more renewable energy, ENERCON works together with external partners to provide comprehensive project support; from wind turbine selection and site layout to approval of project financing and energy marketing. Customers benefit from expert guidance at every stage, with turnkey project implementation available upon request.

To ensure long-term operational efficiency, ENERCON offers customized maintenance, repair, and repowering solutions during ongoing operation to ensure optimal performance throughout a turbine’s lifecycle. A global network of over 350 service stations guarantees fast, reliable technical support for ENERCON wind energy converters.

Research, development, and production

Guided by its founder, Dr. Aloys Wobben, ENERCON continues to set new standards in wind energy technology, quality, and cost efficiency.  As the first manufacturer to introduce the gearless drive concept, ENERCON pioneered a design that remains a key advantage, enhancing the efficiency and compactness of its wind energy converters to this day.

Its wind turbines can also be integrated into all supply and distribution network structures without any issues due to an innovative grid feed system certified by the latest grid codes. These intelligent control systems contribute to maintaining and improving grid stability and reliability. With a dedicated research and development unit, ENERCON consistently delivers more powerful and efficient wind energy converter models, meeting the high demands of its stakeholders.

ENERCON maintains deep expertise across the entire value chain through its production network. By sharing valuable production knowledge with suppliers and partners worldwide, the company ensures that all components meet strict quality standards and are optimally adapted to the final product.

"Quality is one of ENERCON’s top priorities," says Peter Keilich, Head of Global Quality Excellence at ENERCON, and continues: "By sharing valuable knowledge within our production network, we stay ahead of strict quality standards, ensuring our wind turbines remain highly reliable, low-maintenance, durable, and cost-effective.

In combination with the ENERCON maintenance service, the company guarantees operators and owners technical availability of 97 percent.

One of ENERCON’s key goals is to establish a joint network in the wind energy sector, enabling clearer communication and stronger collaboration with customers and suppliers. To achieve this, the company has implemented the APQP4Wind methodology.

"Through initiatives like APQP4Wind, we aim to establish a unified network, speak a common language with our customers and suppliers, and contribute our extensive industry experience to the further development of the sector," explains Peter Keilich.

By leveraging APQP4Wind, ENERCON ensures that all stakeholders work from a shared framework, streamlining complex supply chain sub-processes, and reducing lead times.

By implementing APQP4Wind, we expect to simplify processes, shorten lead times, and leverage our 40 years of industry experience to advance quality in the sector.
Peter Keilich, Head of Global Quality Excellence at ENERCON

ENERCON’s commitment to APQP4Wind began in 2022, when its first employee participated in the Management Awareness Training. Since then, the company has steadily increased its engagement, with 24 employees now educated in the APQP4Wind framework. Of these, 9 have earned certification from the Specialist Training, while 15 hold certificates from the Management Awareness Training. This investment in training demonstrates ENERCON’s dedication to standardized, high-quality processes across the wind energy supply chain.

In 2024, ENERCON further solidified its commitment by becoming an official APQP4Wind member, reinforcing its role in strengthening industry collaboration.
