Understanding
the APQP4Wind Resources

With the APQP4Wind concept becoming the common frame of reference for quality assurance in the wind industry, the APQP4Wind organization has developed a set of supporting materials to help you on your journey toward high-quality product development and effective collaboration.

Below, you will find an overview of the available APQP4Wind Resources, their intended purpose, and whether their use is required or recommended.

Please note that the scope of APQP4Wind implementation must be agreed upon between you and your customer/supplier during the Kick-Off Meeting, where you will define which elements apply to your specific case.

Core requirements

APQP4Wind Manual and its appendices

  • The APQP4Wind Manual and its appendices outline the core requirements for implementing the APQP4Wind methodology.
  • The APQP4Wind Manual provides a detailed description of the seven process phases, including the required in-/outputs and deliverables for each phase. It also outlines communication requirements and enables a structured customer-supplier relationship.
  • The appendices to the APQP4Wind Manual introduce key methodologies and provide detailed specifications and definitions that support major topics outlined in the APQP4Wind Manual, such as FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process).

Optional templates

APQP4Wind Workbook and APQP4Wind Analysis Tool

  • The APQP4Wind Workbook is the suggested standard tool for recording and delivering the PPAP:
It contains all necessary templates and tools for documenting the PPAP.
  • The APQP4Wind Analysis Tool supports measurement system analysis (MSA) and capability studies for any tools and processes involving special characteristics. It complements the APQP4Wind Workbook and includes templates that can be used for calculations and documentation.
  • The APQP4Wind Workbook and APQP4Wind Analysis Tool are not mandatory, even when APQP4Wind is included in the contractual agreement between a Customer and a Supplier. The tools are considered suggested templates that can be replaced with company-specific tools if mutually agreed upon during the Kick-Off Meeting.
